Last week, the newest member of our family arrived: the Sony RX100 point and shoot camera. I was almost instantly amazed by this camera, and have already decided that it will replace my Nikon D3100 DSLR.
My review of the Sony RX-100 begins with this sentence: "The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 is the best point & shoot camera ever." The rest of the Sony RX100 review offers extensive discussion about its strengths and weaknesses.

The biggest perceived weakness is the 0 price tag, but I actually view this as a strength. As I state in the review, it shouldn't be thought of as an expensive point and shoot camera. It should be viewed as a cheap back-up to your DSLR, the perfect camera for vacations when you don't want to carry a lot of gear, or a great camera to carry in your pocket everywhere you go ("the best camera is the one that's with you"). It's also perfect for those who are intimidated by DSLRs.
Will you consider purchasing the Sony RX100, or does the price scare you away (or do you have no interest, regardless)?
